Family Fun -
During the holidays, families should revel in the gratitude and love that they feel for one another. If this is something that you truly desire to do, here are fourteen meaningful ways in which to do this:
Take a nature walk together as a family. During this time, collect some seasonal items that you can use to decorate your home.
Make your extended family members some handmade cards.
Instead of sending out the annual Christmas letter, send a note telling the recipient why you appreciate them.
Each year, take some time to either create or purchase some new Christmas ornaments. This ornament should reflect a defining event or sentiment for that year.
Take a night out to enjoy making special holiday gifts or playing games together.
Start a Christmas-themed puzzle on a table that will not be disturbed within your home. This is great for whenever you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the season.
Play special music or a favorite holiday CD. It will be easier to allow each family member to choose one CD to keep in the CD changer so that everyone's musical taste is represented.
Take a photograph of your child standing in the same place each year. This will help you to see how your child grows and develops from one year to the next.
Take a moment to see what special holiday traditions come from your nationality and then adopt some into your celebration.
Have each of your children either write or draw, depending upon their age, a letter to Santa Claus that you keep in a special place for yourself. Your children will love to look back at these later on in life.
Create a tradition: Take a walk or drive, as a family, in your neighborhood to look at the holiday lights together.
Use wrapping paper, festive holiday advertisements or last year's holiday cards to cut out snowflakes that you can then string into a festive garland.
Adopt a special charity then take some time together as a family to do something for this charity. One idea that many families utilize is serving food at a homeless shelter on Christmas day.
Take time as a family to go see a performance of The Nutcracker ballet. These are easy to find during the Christmas season as both professional and amateur dance companies love to put on these performances at this time of the year..
