Family Fun - Scrapbooking

Back to school time can be memorable in more ways than one. Capturing those memories can actually be a fun project if you scrapbook. Scrapbooking is a way of preserving memories for many years. If you want to really preserve the memories of each back to school year, you can add these memories to your scrapbooks. Charge your camera up and get ready. You will soon have an entire album of your child’s first day back at school.

There are a number of events that you will want to capture when you plan your back to school scrapbook. You may want to get a picture of the first day of school for each of your children and one of all of your children together. Grab a shot of them getting on the bus (if they ride the bus). You can also follow your child to school this first day and take a few shots of him in his new classroom. Be sure to take shots when he gets home from school as well.

Get pictures of your child wearing her backpack or take shots of various school supplies before you load them into the backpack. If your child does ride the bus, take a few shots of the bus stop. If you are planning to follow your child to school for pictures, be sure that you check ahead with the school and your child’s teacher to ensure that this is acceptable. If your children are older, particularly high school age, you may not want to follow them to school. You can take other shots however of older students and still fill a scrapbook page.

Some parents plan a day during the first part of the school year when they go to school and snap pictures of their child and his or her friends throughout the day. You can get great shots of your child sitting at her desk and add lunchroom shots and shots of friends and teachers. You can actually plan a scrapbook for each child for the school year and simply add various shots throughout the year of Christmas parties, Halloween celebrations and other events that take place at school.

If you want to add journals to your pages, ask your child his or her feelings and thoughts about this new school year. You can add their own thoughts which will make your pages extra special. Do a little mini interview with your child and ask him or her how they feel about their classes and seeing their friends again. Add some statistics such as your child’s age, height and weight at that particular time. You can go through these albums in a few years and completely recapture each first day of school.

When purchasing your scrapbooking supplies, look for embellishments that are designed for school. There are a number of different things that you can add to each page to make it really stand out. If you cannot get pictures of your child on the very first day back to school, simply get a picture as soon as you can and build your page around that.

Back to school scrapbooking pages have become all the rage with parents around the country. More and more parents are trying to capture these special moments in a creative way and when you create a scrapbooking page you can visit this special day over and over again whenever you want. It also gives your child something to share with his or her children in the future as they face their first days back to school.
