The ack means oak, as i oak tree. Consult the book " ArchaicEngland" by Harold Bayley. This was a text book used in the Sorbonne university in Paris France. The course was offered to students whose first language was English. this book is now quite old and probably out of print. You must have the correct edition I believe to have the Mack name ethnology encluded in the book.
