Your dream wedding does not have to turn into a financial nightmare. Taking a few steps to lessen the cost of your wedding can help you to save money while still giving you the wedding that you have always dreamed of. An inexpensive wedding does not necessarily have to be a cheap looking wedding. It is simply a way to ensure that your beautiful wedding does not cost you your life’s savings. Most people when planning their weddings also have other future costs in mind. After all you will likely be taking a honeymoon and once you are home again you will have other costs that you can begin saving for now. Although wedding planning is typically carried out by the bride, the groom can also help with the cost cutting effects that will help you to have the wedding of your dreams. By planning ahead you can eliminate many unwanted and unneeded costs. Planning for your wedding as soon as possible will help you to avoid any “by the register” purchases that you may not really need. You should sit down together and determine exactly what each of you wants from your special day. Each of you should make a list of the most important aspects to you and list them in order of importance. Strive to keep your list to ten or fifteen items apiece. Once you have finished your lists cut them in half. Plan for the first part of the lists but keep the last halves as extras that you might have if you do not go over your budget. Once you have your lists cut in half, go over them and make sure that there are no items written down by both you and your groom. Make one list and include everything that you have on your separate lists. This will be the list that you are planning for. You can go over this list, as well as your extras list, and take out anything that you can live without. For instance if you really do not care whether or not you have an open bar or whether your flower girl throws real or silk rose petals, then you should address these issues. Be sure that you do not cut things that would potentially ruin your day or not make your wedding as special as you expect it to be. After all, this is your special day and it should be perfect for you. Just make sure that you cross everything off the list that neither of you really want. Many couples have relatively small weddings and then save money for a larger reception for their first wedding anniversary. There are also those who take just a small, inexpensive honeymoon and opt for a larger and more lavish second honeymoon a few years after their wedding. Even if you do want the real deal with tuxedos, professional catering and all the extras you can still have a fairly inexpensive wedding if you comparison shop. Never take the first offer that you get. For instance if you find someone willing to make your wedding cake for $500 then take note of that but shop around before you make your final decision. You may have friends or family who could bake the wedding cake or even cater the reception in entirety. You should also plan to visit bridal fairs and shows and take full advantage of the internet. There are many ways in which you can cut the costs of your wedding by shopping online. One great way to cut the cost of your wedding reception is to have it at your home or the home of a family member or friend. The thing to remember is that your wedding day should be one of the most beautiful and special days of your life. You can plan the wedding of your dreams without leaving your wallet empty.
