Women love shopping. That is simply one of the facts of life. But what if you could shop and actually get paid for it? If shopping is something that you love doing then there is a way to incorporate your love for shopping into a lucrative home business that is both rewarding and fun. If you are good at selecting the perfect color coordinated outfits and matching people to the perfect clothing that compliments their unique style and personality then a home business as a personal shopper is a perfect venture.

Your job in this home business will be to interview clients and determine their needs. A good way of doing this is to implement a personality test. You will then proceed to advise your clients on various clothing brands, colors and other issues that they may have with their wardrobe. You may even take them shopping or you can simply do the shopping yourself and deliver your purchases to the client for a private fitting. This is a fun home business opportunity that takes very little to no startup costs and can be done completely in your home if you choose. Instead of delivering the clothing to your clients you can simply have a dedicated room or office for your clients to come in and view your choices for them. If you have a home office with an adjoining bathroom then you have the perfect setup for your home business.

One major perk of having a home business as a personal shopper is that you may receive discounts from many clothing chains for frequency of shopping. For instance if there is a major clothing label chain near you, you could spend most of your time purchasing from them providing they offer what your clients need. Many major clothing chains will give rewards in the form of discounts for shopping with them so frequently. You can pass these discounts on to your clients or use them to add to your own wardrobe.

As far as your fees go, they are entirely up to you. Most personal shoppers charge a percentage for commission in addition to a fee for each order. For instance, you could charge $20 for each consultation and then charge a 20% commission for each client as well. If your client needs a wardrobe purchase of $1,000 then your commission will be $200 or $220 when you add the consultation fee. This is an excellent way to earn a significant income all while shopping which is one of the most exciting and rewarding things that a woman can do.

Advertising will likely be your most expensive startup cost. You will need to get the word out about your business and what services you offer. Be sure to have flyers or brochures printed up and leave them at any clothing store where you may gain clients. You can also advertise online by setting up a website or put ads in your local newspaper. Again, keep records of all your expenses for tax purposes. Setting up your home business as a personal shopper will be a fun and exciting venture. After all, who doesn’t want to go shopping everyday? And, if you get paid to shop then it’s just that much better.
