Work From Home - WAH Ideas

There are currently many companies that hire people to work from home providing customer service to their clients. This is actually an excellent business opportunity for women who love helping people and like the idea of meeting new people every day. Setting up a home business that offers customer service to clients who sell products through mail orders, advertising and infomercials can prove to be a very successful venture. You can work for a company that offers a home-based employment opportunity or you can set your own business up. The basic plan of a customer service or 1-800 telephone call center is simply to answer calls for clients.

Customers will call into a dedicated line and that call will be forwarded to your home phone. You can either have your clients to call forward their lines to your office or you can establish a toll-free line and issue clients an extension number for their product ordering. Keep in mind, however, that the phone equipment that is needed for a customer service home business tends to be very costly. You could instead consider purchasing secondhand phone equipment that is capable of handling large volumes of incoming calls. Once your business has taken off and is providing a substantial income you can then upgrade your telephone equipment to the more costly models.

This is a home business venture that can be done with local businesses or globally. If you live in an area that has many small businesses you can offer your services to them. On the other hand, if you think you may want to expand your business and put other customer services representatives to work for you, you can advertise on the internet and reach a much larger potential client base.

The least expensive way to start a customer service home business is to have a separate phone line installed in your home for each client. You will also need a separate phone for each of these lines. You can then simply mark each phone with the company name of the client that the line is dedicated to. Separate phone lines typically range in price but average less than $200 per line, depending on what area your home is in. Keep in mind that you will also be incurring a monthly phone bill for each of these lines. Your monthly phone bills and the cost of each phone, however, will come off your business expenses at tax time so be sure to keep accurate and up to date records for tax purposes. You should also check with your local telephone provider to determine if there are any regulations regarding the number of lines that you can have installed in your area. Also check with your local government offices about any licenses that you may need for your home business.

Your income will depend on a number of factors including the number of clients that you are providing service for. Most customer service businesses offer a monthly rate for clients. Be sure when you set your monthly rate that you are allowing for the extra phone line costs. Also be sure that you do not have so many clients that it is impossible to handle all calls. Once you get to this point it may be a good idea to expand your business and hire other home workers to help with the overflow of calls.
